At the heart of this dune-side village is an authentic fishermen’s quarter.
Brightly-colored wooden huts line the beach. A stroll through the narrow streets of the oyster-farming village is always the ideal way to soak up the life that is so present here, all year round!
Don’t forget to visit the two exhibition rooms to discover some of the local artists, and take the opportunity to buy a painting from the basin.
And here too, it’s easy to leave with a painting in your luggage…
Landscapes in monochrome colors on raw linen canvases, or exuberant universes on maxi formats…many palettes are on display at Grand Piquey.
The sea festivals have become a must!
Pinnace regattas, oyster tastings, funfairs and fireworks, young and old, of all styles and persuasions, everyone gathers at Le Canon every August 15.
What a contrast to the usual tranquility so characteristic of this charming village!
